Program Leadership

Success is. knowing your purpose in life, growing to reach your maximum potential, and sowing seeds that benefit others.
— John C. Maxwell
Over 450 students attended the 2017 Shelby County Student Leadership Conference.

In the spring of 2013 a group of SGA members from Oak Mountain High School attended a student leadership conference at Auburn University. Inspired to create positive change in their community, these students envisioned a leadership conference in Shelby County that could impact hundreds. The students began raising funds from local businesses and individuals to make this a free opportunity to every high school in Shelby County.

The first conference was held at Valleydale Church in September of 2013 with a total of 250 students in attendance. The conference size has more than doubled in attendance over the years and now over 500 students from across Shelby County School District gather annually to renew their vision and be inspired and equipped to lead positive change in their community!
